Engineer Atkins has appointed Joe Boyer as chief executive of its North American business

Boyer joins Atkins from Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure Inc in Austin, Texas, where he has held the position of president of its Federal division.

Dr Uwe Krueger, Atkins chief executive, said: 鈥淢r Boyer is a civil engineer by profession who has worked on some of the United States鈥� largest and most important infrastructure projects. He has a proven track record of leading organisations to growth and delivering high performance which is why we have invited him to lead our North American region.鈥�

Boyer takes up the new role on 18 March. He replaces Dean Fox, who is retiring.
