Druk White Lotus building discussed as part of sustainability and culture event
The Druk White Lotus school (pictured) designed by Arup Associates, will feature as a case study in an academic conference exploring issues of culture, sustainability and identity.
The building, in Ladakh, Kashmir, will be used to highlight the role of schools in the context of education and regeneration during 鈥淪ustaining Identity鈥; a half day conference held by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Arup Associates. The event will focus on sustainability both in terms of the environment and maintaining cultural identity in an increasingly globalised world.
Speakers include Francesco Bandarin, Head of World Heritage at UNESCO, and architect and author Juhani Pallasmaa.
