Arup has reported a 69% rise in pre-tax profit and said it is in a 鈥渟trong position鈥 to weather the economic crisis.
The firm鈥檚 profit for the year to 31 March 2008 was 拢81m, compared with 拢48m the previous year. Turnover was up 27% from 拢572m to 拢726m.
It has cash reserves of more than 拢100m, up 54% on last year.
The UK accounted for almost half of the group鈥檚 turnover. Sales were 拢343m, compared with 拢275m last year.
Chairman Terry Hill said there were 鈥渟igns of weakness鈥 in some of the firm鈥檚 markets and in the US, turnover fell 20% from 拢76m to 拢61m in 2007.
