Project for Imperial College will go up to 31 storeys
Ardmore Construction will build a new hall of residence in west London which the firm claims will be the UK鈥檚 tallest masonry tower.
The group鈥檚 managing director, Cormac Byrne said the scheme for Imperial College will provide student accommodation and residential suites for the rental market within a series of blocks rising to 31-storeys.
Byrne said the project offered 鈥渟everal challenges, not least providing external fa莽ade access at 31-storeys via an innovative climbing screen鈥� but added his firm looked forward to working with Imperial College 鈥渢o tackle these head on鈥�.
The Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher-designed building is part of the re-development of the former Perfume Factory site at 140 Wales Farm Road in North Acton.
The student accommodation comprises 603 studio and twin bedrooms and warden units, arranged over nine to 31 storeys. The development also includes 85 private rental sector residential units extending up to 10 storeys.
Recent jobs for Ardmore include the redevelopment of the Lots Road power station into luxury residential flats, known as Chelsea Waterfront, designed by Farrells, and Limehouse Basin, designed by RMA Architects for Bellway Homes.
Last year the 310-employee group reported turnover for the year to 30 September 2017 of 拢370m and pre-tax profit of 拢12.1m.
