An international competition to revamp a public square in front of Mecanoo鈥檚 Stirling prize-shortlisted Library of Birmingham has been launched by the RIBA.
Five concept designs will be shortlisted for the work at Centenary Square with each shortlisted practice receiving 拢5,000. The closing date for entries is 2 December.
Designs will then go on public display with a winner due to be announced next March
Deputy leader of the city council, Ian Ward, said: 鈥淭his exciting international competition provides designers and Birmingham City Council with a once in a lifetime opportunity to shape what we hope will become a space accessible to both residents and visitors, promoting the square as a place for people to relax and socialise on a more informal basis.鈥
