Profit jumps 80%

New offices in Cardiff and Manchester helped push up profit and revenue at Purcell last year.

Turnover was up a quarter to 拢14.4m in the year to April 2014 while pre-tax profit shot up 82% to 拢2.8 million. Nearly 90% of its business is carried out in the UK, with the remainder in Hong Kong.

The number of offices it now has stands at 17, including a base in Hong Kong, with staff numbers at the year end up 6% to 192. The highest paid employee picked up 拢601,500 鈥 up from 拢164,000 last time.

鈥淲e have strengthened our sector expertise through key appointments and geographical coverage,鈥 chief executive Mark Goldspink (pictured) said.

The specialist restoration architect has picked up a number of high-profile wins in its current financial year including work to build an annexe at Auckland Castle in County Durham with Niall McLaughlin.

It is also due to find out next month whether it has beaten four others to land the contract to restore the fire-damaged Macintosh building in Glasgow.
