The cost of the Olympic aquatics centre has risen by a further 拢11m because of attempts to speed up construction to make up for earlier delays, and concerns over whether it will be warm enough for competitors
The centre, designed by architect Zaha Hadid and being built by Balfour Beatty, will now cost 拢268m, 拢54m more than the 拢214m originally budgeted.
The new costings were announced by outgoing Olympic Delivery Authority chief executive David Higgins as he unveiled the latest quarterly review of progress on the project.
Higgins also revealed that the decision to remove the planned 拢7m 鈥渄igital wrap鈥 around the main stadium, alongside other savings, meant the flagship Sir Robert McAlpine scheme ould
be completed to the original 拢496m budget.
