Project is part of wider plan to regenerate waterside area
West Northamptonshire Development Corporation鈥檚 planning committee has approved an application for a new road in Northampton.
As part of a wider regeneration plan, it will turn the land along the River Nene into a mixed-use scheme.
Chris Garden, the development corporation鈥檚 director of regeneration and development, said: 鈥淭he Nunn Mills development road is part of a bigger picture for Northampton鈥檚 waterside area. Along with the infrastructure improvements already underway, it will support the transformation of derelict land into a landmark mixed-use scheme.
鈥淲e are aiming to establish Northampton鈥檚 waterside area as a leading business location. The new road, as well as other initiatives such as the enterprise zone, will help to achieve this long-term goal.鈥
The road is estimated to cost about 拢12m and will be delivered by the development corporation and the landowners.
