Project director of 21 Moorfields job leaving
The project director of Sir Robert McAlpine’s £350m 21 Moorfields scheme in the City of London is leaving the firm, ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV can reveal.
Bob Kay has been with McAlpine for 15 years and his departure is the latest in a line of senior figures to leave its London business in recent months.
London boss Paul Heather went last year while another project director Allan Cameron, who worked on McAlpine’s Bloomberg job, is quitting to join Laing O’Rourke.
The next home for Kay has not been announced but it is understood he is joining a rival Tier 1 firm.
Kay joined McAlpine in 2007 from regional contractor Tolent and his CV includes stints at the now defunct Clugston and Costain.
McAlpine declined to comment on his departure but the 21 Moorfields scheme has had a series of finishing deadlines pushed back in recent months.
The job was originally due to finish next month but this was delayed to June, then the following month and has now been given a September 2022 finish date.
Announcing the latest delay last November, developer Landsec gave no explanation but it has previously said the slippages have been caused by the impact of the pandemic on productivity at the site.
ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV also understands the scheme has been hit by design changes in particular around the atrium and its height.
The 17-storey job, designed by Wilkinson Eyre, topped out in September and is due to become the headquarters of Deutsche Bank.
