Singer says design is a 鈥渄ogs dinner of crap concrete鈥
Singer Annie Lennox has slammed plans for a 拢140m development of Aberdeen鈥檚 city gardens.
The gardens, which have been designed by US architect Diller, Scofidio & Renfro and Scottish firm Keppie Design, are backed by local businessman Sir Ian Wood, who is offering up to 拢85m towards the scheme.
But Lennox, who is from the city, said on her Facebook page that the plans were, 鈥渁nother dogs dinner of crap concrete development, ravaging the only authentic, historical green space in the city centre is not the solution to the challenge of re-energising and revitalising Aberdeen鈥.
She also criticised local councillors who support the scheme as 鈥渟hort sighted鈥 and 鈥渞eacting to the dangling 拢50m golden carrot鈥.
A referendum on the plans in March found popular support for the project with 45,301 voting in favour of it and 41,175 against it.
