Lewisham council in south-east London has appointed a team headed by contractors Amec and Taylor Woodrow to bring about a 拢250m transformation of the town centre.
A partnership of the London Development Agency, Lewisham council and Transport for London has selected the joint venture that will oversee more than 92,000 m2 of mixed-use development. This will include an enhanced public transport interchange and improved highway layout.

The Lewisham Gateway scheme has apartments, shops, bars, restaurants and leisure amenities, along with a town square and a landscaped park by the river.

Tony Winterbottom, the LDA's director of regeneration and development, said: "Lewisham Gateway will bring jobs, homes, businesses and investment and will help secure the area's long-term economic future. This is one of our priority development areas."
