Alinea has won its first major commission outside the UK with a deal to carry out work on a new campus in Dublin for US tech giant Salesforce.

The cost consultant has already been working with the San Francisco-based business software specialist on the fit-out of the former Heron Tower in the City of London, now re-named the Salesforce Tower.

Now Alinea is working on the fit-out of Salesforce’s campus in Dublin’s Docklands district.

Alinea, which has been looking at making a push overseas, is working with Dublin-based QS Mitchell McDermott set up four years ago by former Davis Langdon staffers Paul Mitchell and Anthony McDermott, who both headed the firm’s cost management arm in Ireland.

The 430,000 sq ft development (pictured), designed by Irish practice Henry J Lyons, runs across six floors but Salesforce is looking to add a further 100,000 sq ft of space over an extra two floors.

It is being built by local firm PJ Hegarty, which also has an office in west London, with the scheme, called Spencer Place, being developed by Dublin firm Ronan Group Real Estate, headed by Irish property developer Johnny Ronan, and US investment group Colony Capital.

Hegarty is on site carrying out basement and piling works with the firm now working on the concrete superstructure.

The scheme also includes a 200-bed hotel which will be operated by Ireland’s largest hotel group Dalata.

The new development is the single biggest commercial letting deal in Irish history and the announcement last month was attended by Ireland’s Taoiseach Leo Varadkar as well as finance minister Paschal Donohoe.

Salesforce already employs 1,400 people in the Irish capital and the new block will have room for a further 1,500.
