Contractor and support services company Alfred McAlpine has bought UK environmental consultant Enviros Group for 拢30m.
Barry Newby, Enviros chief executive and Andrew Smith, chief financial officer, will both remain with the business, which was owned by the management team with the backing of private equity group ECI Partners.
Enviros is a 拢30m-turnover business and in the year to 31 December made a pre-tax profit of 拢700,000. It has gross assets of 拢10.7m.
Ian Grice, McAlpine chief executive, said: 鈥淓nvironmental issues continue to grow in importance for business, with significant focus on climate change and energy consumption, as well as waste management and brownfield regeneration. I believe that Enviros will add significantly to our capabilities in this area.鈥
Enviros employs more than 300 consultants in 10 offices across the UK and Ireland and will keep its name under McAlpine. It works across industry sectors and its clients include Defra, the Carbon Trust, BP, Corus and the Ministry of Defence.
鈥 Consultant White Young Green (WYG) has bought UK town planning consultant Turner Holden.
WYG paid 拢900,000 for the Somerset firm. A further payment of 拢500,000 will be made if Turner Holden hits certain performance targets in the first year of trading under WYG.
In the year ended 31 March, pre-tax profit at Turner Holden was 拢138,000 on a 拢648,000 turnover. All its directors are expected to join WYG.
