Architect BDG picks up third project for the advertising giant
Architect BDG is to transform the Rivierstaete building in Amsterdam for advertising giant WPP.
Located on the banks of the Amstel river the 19,000 sq m building will become home to 1,500 people who work at 30 of WPP鈥檚 companies in the city.
The new office building in Amsterdam is the latest in a series of WPP co-locations for its related companies, which has seen the firm bring in BDG to redevelope part of the Sea Containers on the Southbank in London.
BDG is also redeveloping the Telefonica building in Madrid for WPP to house 40 of its related companies in the Spanish city.
Sir Martin Sorrell, chief executive of WPP, said: 鈥淭he new building in Amsterdam will allow our companies to work more closely and more effectively together, and our people will have the benefit of an outstanding working environment tailored to the needs of modern advertising and marketing services businesses.鈥
BDG creative director and project lead Colin Macgadie said: 鈥淭he opportunity to transform this landmark building from the developer shell and core to an inspirational creative and collaborative environment for all the WPP businesses in Amsterdam is exactly the type of project that the studio thrives upon.
鈥淥ur aim is to deliver a space that continues to build upon our recent success for outstanding architectural interiors where people and place take centre stage.鈥
