Arup has unveiled designs for the planned new 48,000-seat home for AC Milan
Arup has unveiled designs for AC Milan鈥檚 planned new stadium, as the historic football club prepares to leave its San Siro home which it has shared with fierce rivals Inter since 1947.
The quirky new 48,000-seat stadium features rooftop gardens, a moveable roof, a sports college, restaurants, a children鈥檚 playground and a hotel.
Milan said their plans have been partially inspired by Arsenal鈥檚 Emirates stadium and will cost approximately 拢225m to build.
Architect Emilio Faroldi drew inspiration from stadiums in Switzerland and Spain as well as Arsenal鈥檚 home in north London.
According to Arup, the project has been developed with 鈥渁 fully holistic and integrated approach where all design components have been carefully balanced around the spectators experience鈥.
The stadium is expected to gain planning consent in March and the club hopes to open the ground in time for the 2018-19 season.
