Five east London boroughs put out tender for housing, schools and general building work
A £700m super framework has been put out by five east London boroughs for housing, schools and general building works.
The London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge, Havering, Newham and Tower Hamlets said they hoped to find extra savings through the tie-up.
Barking and Dagenham have kicked off the process by inviting bids for its projected £79m annual spending programme, split between £39m on housing and £40m on education and other services.
Once all six councils have signed up the deal is expected to be worth £190m a year.
The councils would then use mini competitions to select contractors for individual work packages worth over £1.5m.
