Architects have three more weeks to enter submission before 40 practices are appointed to compete for commissions
Over 500 architects have expressed an interest in designing the athletes' village for the 2012 London Olympics.
The call for architects by the Lend Lease Consortium and the Architecture Foundation was made last week.
Lend Lease Europe Chairman Nigel Hugill said: 鈥淲e are delighted with the way the international architectural community has responded to this opportunity.鈥
鈥淭here is a palpable sense of excitement at the prospect of contributing to the creation of something extraordinary 鈥 a place which can shine out on the global sporting stage in 2012 while going on to help shape the new city agenda.鈥
Practices have until 28 June to enter their submissions and on July 31 a panel of around 40 architects will be appointed.
This group will compete for commissions on the 拢2bn project, which could range from home and pavilions to larger projects.
Lend Lease and partners First Base and East Thames were selected by London & Continental Railways and the ODA as preferred Development Partner for Zones 2-7 of Stratford City, which includes the athletes' village.
