The fate of Rafael Vi帽oly and Bennetts Associates鈥 plans for the 拢150m redevelopment of Oxford university鈥檚 Radcliffe Observatory Quarter will be decided by a council of professors at the end of May.
The university has engaged Vi帽oly to design a 拢100m maths building, while Bennetts Associates has designed a 拢50m humanities building and library.
However, the plans for the sensitive site that contains a number of listed buildings have not received final sign-off, and funding will be decided at a crunch meeting of the Oxford University Council on 27 May.
A spokesperson for the university, which has been working up plans for the quarter since 2004, said: 鈥淚f permission is granted, the next stage of design and procurement will be decided at the end of the month.鈥 will make a decision on the next stage of design and procurement.鈥 and operating conditions are still very difficult.鈥
