Balfour Beatty, Willmott Dixon and Skanska among thirteen firms appointed for Mayor of London framework
Balfour Beatty, Skanska, Mitie and Willmott Dixon are among thirteen firms that have won a place on the Mayor of London鈥檚 framework to retrofit 400 public sector buildings to make them more energy efficient.
The framework forms the next phase of the Mayor鈥檚 RE:FIT programme to improve the energy efficiency of the public sector estate. It aims to retrofit 400 buildings over the next two years.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson said the programme was already 鈥渉aving a real impact in cutting both energy bills and carbon emissions鈥.
鈥淒ecades from now hundreds of our public buildings will still be standing, and it鈥檚 our responsibility to make sure they are as efficient as possible for future generations. What鈥檚 more, RE:FIT is already benefiting Londoners today, boosting jobs through the burgeoning low carbon economy,鈥 he said.
The programme aims to retrofit a further 600 public sector buildings from 2015.
Despite being organised by the Mayor of London the framework is available for all public sector organisations across the UK to access.
Between 2008 and 2012, 111 buildings were retrofitted under the programme.
