A large sculpted head made from sections of cross-laminated timber has gone on display in London as part of a mental health awareness campaign run by charity Time To Change. The 9m-high artwork, Head Above Water, was designed by Steuart Padwick, who enlisted the help of engineering consultant Ramboll. The sculpture is on show this weekend at Gabriel’s Pier, near the Oxo Tower, tying in with this year’s London Design Festival. It is lit up at night in changing colours, based on research by King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.
