With increasing awareness of the effects of energy consumption on global warming, the prospect of a 'zero emissions' source of energy grows more attractive. The last seven years have seen significant developments in the world of fuel cells, which have brought their use closer to the mainstream of the commercial building industry.
In May 2002, the BCO commissioned Roberts & Partners to conduct research into the application of fuel cells to commercial office buildings. The aim of the document is to provide a straightforward guide to a highly technological subject, attempting to broaden the understanding and awareness of the potential application and use of fuel cells within the building industry. The guide demonstrates the current advancement and application of fuel cells as it stands today and attempts to predict potential future developments for the next five to 10 years. Each section of the report has a summary of findings in the form of a brief synopsis to enable readers to skim through the document and extract the key findings with minimal reading.
