Database will be created to give information on using recycled and secondary aggregates.
BRE has teamed up with the Waste and Resources Action Programme for three projects designed to expand the possible number of uses for recycled and secondary aggregates. (RSA).
WRAP is hoping that a database of information created by research into the use of RSA will help companies comply with possible new legislation on dangerous substances and water framework directives.
Around 65 million tonnes of RSA are used in UK construction every year, but currently uncertainty about possible contamination risk to ground and drinking water sources from leaching is forming a barrier to growth in the use of this sustainable material.
