Rapid rendering, accessible windows, vibrant carpet tiles for student housing, a deep undermount sink and a very thin radiator are among this week’s product news
Render
Saint-Gobain Weber provided its weberpralM one-coat monocouche render for seven newbuild town houses in Brighton. The contemporary, four-bed properties have light, textured facades and sharp features and required quick, cost-effective rendering. Weberpral M is a cementitious, through-coloured render suitable for brick or block work substrates. The company says its pump application makes for quick and efficient installation, reducing scaffolding and site costs. The render is applied at a thickness of 20-28mm then scraped, leaving a minimum render thickness of 15-25mm. It is available in 24 colours. Saint-Gobain Weber has been awarded an A+ rating as defined in the BRE Global 2008 Green Guide to Specification.

Fire alarms
The WES+ wireless fire alarm system from Ramtech Electronics has been specified for the redevelopment of a former gravel pit and landfill site at Lymington Fields, Dagenham. The development is a four-year, £102m project that will transform the site into a mixed-tenure housing scheme. WES+, which incorporates automatic heat/smoke detection units, is now providing 24/7 fire alarm coverage across this large residential site. The company says the three-year battery life will ensure that the system operates for the duration of this project, reducing lifetime costs and site waste.

Park home thermal guide
Actis has launched a guide to help park home manufacturers comply with new thermal efficiency standards. The new standard – BS3632 – was brought in last year to replace its outdated predecessor which had been valid since 2005. Any park home built to BS3632 produced after November 30 this year must comply with the new regulations. The Actis document, downloadable as a pdf from the Actis website, as well as in hard copy format, gives examples of how and where to use each of the three Hybrid products in a range of scenarios.

Ultra-thin radiator
Vasco has launched a designer radiator, the ONI. The ONI is made of 8mm reinforced aluminium plate, making it the thinnest Vasco radiator ever made. The reinforced aluminium plate of the ONI hides a winding copper heating tube with minimal water content, which is cut into the rear of the front plate 2mm from the surface. The company says that, due to its ultra-flat design and the rapid interaction between copper and aluminium, the ONI is an energy-saving and efficient source of heat.
