Rainscreen cladding from Shackerley has been used to help transform Boston House, a former shoe factory in Leicester, into 44 apartments, including eight penthouses.
Shackerley has supplied an eye-catching Sureclad ventilated rainscreen for the building.
The original frontage has given way to a gently curved facade constructed of 1,200mm x 600mm panels, which appear to have been made of exposed oxidised metal. However, each slab is actually made of ceramic granite, a construction material that gives high strength, hardness and virtually zero porosity. The distinctive 鈥渕etallic鈥 finish is the result of a special surface treatment which gives the slabs their rich texture and a high degree of reflectivity.
