This week鈥檚 #buildingdoodle sketch is by architect Mike Oades at Atomik Architecture.
The drawings are an early concept for a pavillion in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to be built as part of a project by Atomik in partnership with Kazakh architects Bureau Address, celebrating the area鈥檚 historic architecture. Oades says: 鈥淭he lack of funding for conservation has meant many of Almaty鈥檚 buildings are now rapidly aging and decaying. New development has seen the demise of Almaty鈥檚 Soviet-era architecture, which can be considered essential to the survival of the city鈥檚 cultural heritage, identity and future prosperity.鈥
