Whether it鈥檚 glazed partitioning, fire-resistant safety glass, or just plain old cladding, we look at some of the latest recommended options to help your project meet regulations
Movers and Makers
- Stainless steel fixings specialist, Ancon 好色先生TV Products, has updated its technical literature to highlight its products that now carry CE Marking under the Construction Products Regulation. The publications can be downloaded from www.ancon.co.uk, or are available in hard copy on request.
- 好色先生TV on the existing range of applications for its Supafil blown-in glass mineral wool products, Knauf Insulation鈥檚 Supafil CarbonPlus has received British Board of Agrement (BBA) certification for filling residual cavities in existing partially filled masonry cavity walls. Supafil CarbonPlus has been specifically designed for installation into narrow cavities below 50mm.
- Translucent polycarbonate cladding panels from Rodeca have achieved Class B in non-fragility tests conducted by the BRE. The tests were for assessing the non-fragility of profiled panelled and large element roofing assemblies when subjected to impacts by a heavy soft body, using Rodeca鈥檚 PC 2540-4 tongue and groove panels. Class B means the impactor (a 45kg cylindrical canvas bag filled with compacted sand, designed to simulate a human being) was retained by the panel even after a second impact.
- Fernox has qualified to carry the Carbon Trust鈥檚 Carbon Reduction Label across 23 of its products. The Carbon Reduction Label is awarded to products that have had their carbon footprints measured, certified and where a company commits to reducing the carbon footprint of that product. Furthermore, the carbon footprint of the product must be re-assessed every two years and demonstrate a reduction to keep using the label. Fernox has been able to demonstrate with 23 products from its chemical water treatment range.
- Cladding profiles and panels from building products manufacturer Steadmans have met requirements for CE marking confirming they have been manufactured, tested and assessed to European standards. Steadmans鈥 single skin roof and wall systems are manufactured from coated steel to create trapezoidal and corrugated section roof and wall sheeting, in three standard thicknesses and six profiles, to suit a variety of uses. The sheets are hot-dip galvanised or Aluzinc coated to BS EN 10346:2009.
GLAZED PARTITIONING
SAS International has manufactured over 400 linear metres of fully glazed partitioning for the new Brent Civic Centre. The 40,000m2 project has been awarded a BREEAM Outstanding rating, the first in its category to achieve this accolade. SAS International鈥檚 System 7000 partitioning was specified to manage acoustics and deflection. CLADDING
Red Box Design Group specified Equitone [natura] from Marley Eternit for the new 拢9.9m Northern Design Centre at Gateshead Quayside. The firm says Equitone [natura] was chosen for the four storey BREEAM 鈥渧ery good鈥 rated building because its semi-translucent surface, allows the natural variegation of the fibre cement to show through allowing Red Box to deliver their vision of creating a building that 鈥渆xudes a sense of innovation鈥.
