Some construction companies are accusing the recruitment industry of holding them to ransom, but is it simply doing the best for employees?
A reader recently commented on a story about the increasingly desperate tactics used by professional headhunters by saying that in his time as a recruitment consultant the industry had become "increasingly immoral, unprofessional and in some cases bordered on illegal."
Recruitment companies have been accused of underhand tactics such bribary by employers - the Association for Consultancy and Engineering is even investigating the conduct of of recruitment consultants in its sector - but workers are benefiting from increased wages and opportunities.
