The last 12 months have seen change at the top of almost a dozen of the construction industry’s biggest housebuilders and contractors, including household names such as Persimmon, Galliford Try and Kier. The executive moves have in some cases come after long-time bosses have hung up their boots, able to take pride in jobs largely well done. But much of the change is the result – one way or another – of increasing financial and political pressure on housebuilders and contractors that has caused some of the biggest firms to falter, most obviously Kier.
