H+H’s full-storey height aircrete construction system with thin joint bonding has enabled Miller Homes to create a zero-carbon house as part of the Pinnacle development of 79 homes in Basingstoke
The Code for Sustainable Homes level six house is super-insulated with walls achieving a measured U-value of 0.09W/m2K. The walls are built using 200mm-thick, high-insulation aircrete vertical elements made by H+H. On top of this is 200mm of WebberTherm PHS insulation and a 6mm WebberTherm XM render.
The 2.4m high panels mean fewer joints, higher levels of air-tightness and improved speed of build, claims the company. The construction also minimises linear thermal bridging, reducing heat loss at junctions.
