Technal, the architectural aluminium specialist, has launched its Modal facade system for low-rise buildings

It uses a modular design that is suitable for facades of up to two storeys. The modular frame uses an airtight clip system that Technal says is fast to install, provides enhanced weather resistance and allows greater quality control.

The system is suitable for schools and colleges, healthcare facilities and leisure projects. Its range of module options includes single, double or triple glazed units, fixed lights, integral opening vents, doors, integrated sliding window and door systems and infill panels. The system also allows integral open-in and open-out vents to be incorporated in the frame, minimising the visible aluminium and ensuring consistent sight lines. Mullions can span up to two storeys with a wind loading of up to 1200Pa; transoms can span up to 2m. The system uses a 30mm polyamide break for thermal efficiency and has U-values from 1.1W/m2K to 1.75 W/m2K.
