The battle to futureproof our built environment against the effects of climate change is on. With an increasing amount of extreme weather incidents and fluctuating temperatures, urbanised areas need to be able to mitigate increased flood risks and climate-caused fabric damage.

There is a balance to strike, however. While we look to achieve this greater degree of structural resilience, we also need to be considering sustainable design and achieving net zero carbon buildings so we are not exacerbating the issue of climate change further.
