I enjoyed reading the "Not the Egan Review" (24 October, pages 42-49), which could go a long way to creating Utopia in the industry.
My only real difference is why you think quantity surveyors make the best project managers. Surely, clients should be appointing excellent managers, who ensure that clients issue a clear brief and in turn are briefed about a project's progress.

There are many postgraduate courses on offer for builders, QSs, architects and others to study project management 鈥� but why can't project management be seen as a discipline in its own right and be taught to undergraduates?

I'm sure that this is the best way of attracting more women into the industry, and that clients and the construction industry can only benefit from this diversity of skills.
