While I support the intention of your 99% campaign, the article shows a lack of awareness of what has been happening in the field of improving the energy efficiency and reducing the carbon emissions from existing buildings in the UK over the past 10 years.

Many people in local authorities, housing associations, architects’ offices, energy efficiency organisations and renewable energy companies have been working on this for years. Does your writer not know about the Home Energy Conservation Act, the Energy Efficiency Commitment or the National Fuel Poverty Strategy? Or that the new Part L of the ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV Regulations includes work to existing buildings?

Yes, it would be good if the government assumed more responsibility for managing the process of upgrading the nation’s buildings, and there is still a great deal to do. But please don’t put this forward as if nobody had noticed the problem before.
