The ideal mode of transportation in medium sized cities is cycling
In response to Jack Pringle’s comments on young tech workers travelling to work in Chicago (, page 26, 2 August) - on the Portland to Portland bike ride when we studied what was happening to cycling infrastructure in a dozen US cities we found that Generation Y wanted to get to work by bike, through traffic-free Greenways and protected cycle routes.
US cities are actively encouraging young people to move back into the centre and bikes are the ideal mode of transportation in medium sized cities.
