Construction of road infrastructure can exemplify collaborative and modern methods of working
The approval of the £395m is good news for Aberdeen and its surrounding areas (19 October, page 10). The impact on the traffic volumes on the main arteries of the Bridge of Dee, Anderson Drive and Dyce Drive will provide relief for commuters, businesses and haulage drivers.
I know other options have been investigated, including a tunnel, during this process.
I trust that the design and procurement process will now progress efficiently with due consideration given to the natural beauty of the Don and Deeside valleys, while reinforcing the connections to Aberdeen Harbour, Dyce Airport and the primary fabrication and oil service businesses located around the city.
With major infrastructure projects enjoying a positive press in the UK, I hope that a new exemplar can be delivered in a collaborative and assured manner with the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route project, particularly with the majority of global oil companies on the doorstep and watching how construction of road infrastructure can exemplify collaborative and modern methods of working utilising progressive digitally-based information modelling.
