Most of the comments on the FITs debate seem to forget that there are legions of people who spend a considerable portion of their day at home. They all use electrical kit during the day, including heating, and the benefits of low-cost, FIT-subsidised solar power are enormous. I am a little weary with the rubbishing of this project by people who think everyone is out at work all day.

The destruction of the FIT scheme took hundreds of millions of pounds of free electricity away from residents of social housing who are most likely to suffer from energy poverty and are least able to cope with increases in energy prices because of fixed benefit rates.
