The Strata tower (9 April, page 38) is as bold as it is ingenious
Boldness is what art needs to survive and develop. An ingenious design, subtle or otherwise, is what buildings need if they are to be true to the ethos of saving the environment or promoting a higher standard.
The Strata tower is an excellent symbol for Elephant and Castle, and one that will provide the impetus for design and creativity in the area. This is currently lacking in most parts of London, especially south of the river.
What would your harmonious colour scheme be? Heygate Grey? Walworth Road Grey? The building is striking and a joy to observe from any angle, and that is an achievement of courage. I feel proud for the area (which I live in, by the way) that can 鈥渢hink outside the box鈥.
