As a Spurs supporter and frequent attender at White Hart Lane, I strongly welcome the confirmation of the development plans for a new stadium. However, a critical issue will be accessibility to the new ground.
It is bad enough already, with a limited overground rail service, no tube stations within a reasonable distance, and an inadequate number of buses. Together with the controlled parking zone in the area around the ground, this means that there are real access difficulties with the ground’s existing 36,000 capacity.
Although I know that the club has raised the matter in various quarters in the past, unless serious action is taken to improve and upgrade public transport, the prospect of a two-thirds increase in crowd numbers is not encouraging.
