Conservation is not about recreating the past
In reference to your article (15 August), I think it would be a pseudo cultural travesty and I would rather the money was spent on a contemporary piece of architecture. When, as a society, are we going to get it into our heads that 鈥渃onservation鈥� is not about recreating the past but conserving the best of what still exists? And how can you justify recreating a Victorian thin glass shell authentically while being environmentally credible?鈥�
