A bespoke insurance programme that covers the supply chain under one policy is the safest approach

In (19 July, page 40), Tony Bingham is, I suspect, 鈥減laying to the gallery鈥 when he states 鈥渢he Construction Industry doesn鈥檛 want a discounted premium, it wants to pay you (the insurance company) for cover鈥.

Having spent 30 years as a construction insurance broker, I disagree. Construction treats insurance like any form of procurement - lowest price prevails and then it assumes insurers will pick up all the risks dumped on the supply chain.

The only sensible way to insure development risk is through a bespoke insurance programme that covers the supply chain under one policy. This is an approach we, and other leading brokers, have followed for many years.
