The government鈥檚 energy strategy needs more than just the nuclear option

If the Severn Barrage can provide 5% of the UK鈥檚 energy requirements from tidal forces we should back it wholeheartedly, subject to provisos that protect the port and wildlife habitats (, 18 February, www.building.co.uk).

I鈥檓 sure we would all prefer tidal to nuclear. The government鈥檚 energy strategy needs more than just the nuclear option (which seems in danger of falling apart anyway) and the expensive legacy it leaves for future generations. Let鈥檚 get on with it.
