The London and Sheffield competitions hope to promote local engagement by inviting proposals for left-over land
Registration for the Royal Institute of British Architects London and Sheffield Forgotten Spaces 2011 ideas competitions is this Wednesday 13 April at 5pm with submissions required by 12 May.
Open to entrants across the country and with cash prizes of up to £5,000, the competitions asks artists, architects, planners, engineers, landscape designers, students and local groups to suggest designs and proposals for an imaginative new use for a ‘forgotten space’ anywhere in Greater London and the Sheffield City region.
The RIBA in London is partnering with Qatari Diar, Ordnance Survey and Design for London on the competition.
The RIBA in Yorkshire is working in association with Sheffield Hallam University and is sponsored by developers British Land, Creative Sheffield, Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and engineers Buro Happold.
The competition brief is available the RIBA London and on the RIBA Sheffield .
