A Nottingham Trent University graduate has been recognised by the Chartered Institute for Architectural Technologists (CIAT) for technical excellence.

Reuben Davies, who graduated in June from the university鈥檚 School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment with a first class honours degree in architectural technology, was awarded the CIAT Student Award for Technical Excellence.

The award, which is open to all students studying on a CIAT accredited course, gives entrants the opportunity to demonstrate their achievement of technical excellence in architectural technology by illustrating the composition of ideas put into practice and taken from a university assignment or a live project.

Colin Orr, CIAT president, said: 鈥淩euben鈥檚 entry shows excellent technical aspects which are of a realistic and buildable nature.

鈥淭he design embraced the principles of architectural technology linked to the design and production process along with the building performance of this project. I look forward to following Reuben鈥檚 career progression within the discipline.鈥�

This is the first time a NTU student has been awarded with this accolade.

Reuben is now working for design practice Hill Holt Wood 鈥� a social enterprise and charitable organisation  that operates fundamentally with the social, economic and environmental aspects of community and work 鈥� where he specialises in alternative and sustainable building methods.
