Tim Goldby left the company several weeks ago, and Gareth Lewis has taken over

Tim Goldby, Mace鈥檚 project director on the Shard, has left the project and the company.

The circumstances surrounding his exit, which happened several weeks ago, are unknown and a Mace spokesperson said they did not know where Goldby had gone.

Goldby was poached by Mace from Laing O鈥橰ourke to work on the project two years ago.

The 拢350m fixed-price scheme, which will be western Europe鈥檚 tallest building when it is completed, will now be run by Gareth Lewis, Mace鈥檚 chief operating officer for construction.

He will take responsibility for the 拢2bn London Bridge Quarter regeneration, which includes London Bridge Place, the creation of a bus station and improvements to London Bridge station.

The spokesperson said: 鈥淭im Goldby has moved on from the role of project director on the Shard, and from Mace, as construction enters a new phase and following Mace鈥檚 appointment for the construction contract on London Bridge Place.鈥

The 310m-tall Shard was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano.
