Gleeds
Nobody combines professionalism with personality quite like Gleeds. The judges were thoroughly impressed with the consultant’s high rate of repeat businesses, and how it has been able to combine tradition and modernity in its work. No project illustrates this better than the conversion of the grade I-listed St Pancras Chambers, in London, where it toiled to get the project back on cost and on time.

The successful relationship that Gleeds has with its clients stretches back decades, with Marks & Spencer having been a client for an amazing 90 years.
On the business front, Gleeds has continued to diversify, acquiring education consultancy Cocentra, and growing its energy and nuclear business turnover by 60%. Chairman Richard Steer is also applauded for his morale-boosting tours of Gleeds’ offices, and his public championing of the industry with politicians and others.

Runners-up

Cyril Sweett
Cyril Sweett has shown no lack of ambition this year, buying Padgham in Australia and Widnell in China. It is now a truly international company, with overseas operations accounting for over 60% of its order book - a global explosion that has taken just three years.

Davis Langdon - an Aecom company
It has been a year of change at Davis Langdon, but it remains at the very top table of British consultants. Its merger with Aecom gives it an enviable global span and an almost unmatched breadth of services.

Franklin + Andrews
When you have to find a new place to store 22 million insect and plant specimens, who do you turn to? The Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum in London turned to F+A for some extremely challenging cost consulting, and were not disappointed.

Rider Levett Bucknall
With 2,200 people in 100 offices across the globe, RLB has come far in its 225 years, and is now one of the most globally diverse consultants Britain has to offer. It has scored highly in the Sunday Times’ and Telegraph’s top employers tables.

Turner & Townsend
Turner & Townsend is proud of its role as the Shard’s project manager, but there have been other successes this year. T&T helped shave 20% off the cost of London Bridge Place, the Shard’s smaller sibling, and cut costs and carbon by cutting down on staff travel by 50%.
