A discount rate of 3% is used to calculate net present values. Installation includes foundations or fixings, mast or tower as well as the wind turbine and direct connection to the house’s mains electrical system. Generic service life of 20 years is assumed. Maintenance allows for: inspections, servicing and minor repairs. Electricity produced is included in the lifecycle cost as an income, based on a domestic rate of £0.10/ kWh. An energy price escalator has not been applied. Lifecycle costs are based on averaged values. Electrical output based on generic power curves for turbine type, wind speed distribution Weibull shape factor of two, wind turbine height of 10m, no adjustments for air density or surface roughness. A cost analysis based on project specific information is essential for a realistic best value appraisal. BLP provides latent defect warranties for buildings www.blpinsurance.com |
