Engineer removed from step-free access design project for Bromley-by-Bow station
Engineer Ramboll has been removed from a London Underground job to design step-free access for Bromley-by-Bow station.
The project was part of a wider 拢1.3bn scheme to improve access and capacity across the Underground鈥檚 stations.
Papers from Transport for London鈥檚 board meeting last week said the firm had 鈥渘ot delivered the design as per the brief鈥.
Miles Ashley, London Underground鈥檚 programme director for Crossrail and stations, said: 鈥淲e had been working with consultants Ramboll during the early design stage of this project; however, we felt that the design which they submitted did not meet the criteria and have taken the decision to terminate the contract.
鈥淲e are hoping to retender the design package in the early part of 2014.鈥
The programme for step-free access at Bromley by Bow had been scheduled to enter its detailed design phase in late January 2014 but Ramboll鈥檚 ousting from the project has meant the detailed design will not now start until June 2014.
Ramboll declined to comment.
