Construction work has begun on the 40,000-seater Al Wakrah stadium, the first to be built for the Qatar 2022 World Cup
The stadium is the first to contractually enforce the Qatar 2022 workers’ charter, designed to ensure workers’ safety and welfare.
Currently 79 workers are on site and are also being housed. Qatar 2022 said health and safety site welfare was in place, with a cooled drinking water dispenser within a three minute walk.
The air-conditioned accommodation provides rooms for two to three people and provides three meals a day, laundry, bathrooms, medical cards, wi-fi, television and recreational facilities.
The Zaha Hadid and Aecom-designed stadium Al Wakrah stadium is scheduled to complete in 2018.
