Project won under Scape framework
Willmott Dixon has been appointed to a £17m contract to build a leisure centre scheme in West Yorkshire.
The appointment is the contractor’s second leisure centre for Wakefield council, having already completed a scheme at Minsthorpe.
The wider project team includes Arcadis as project manager, Waterman Group as structural engineer and GT+3 Architects.
Called the Five Towns Leisure and Wellbeing Hub, the Pontefract centre (pictured) will feature a 10-lane swimming pool and another pool with moveable floor to adjust depth.
It will also include a gym, cafe, meeting and referral rooms as well as outside space such as tennis courts.
Construction work will be finished in autumn 2020 with the project procured via Scape’s national construction framework.
