Skanska and Costain have been confirmed as winners of the 拢110m contract to build the main station works for Crossrail鈥檚 Bond Street station
The five-year contract comprises the construction of ticket halls - including platform fit-out and mechanical and electrical services for the Western Ticket Hall and Eastern Ticket Hall. It also include interfacing with the tunnelling, track and rail power contractors, as well as local community engagement.
Skanska UK executive vice president Bill Hocking said: 鈥淲e are delighted to have secured another part of the Crossrail programme. This is the seventh contract for the joint venture and follows on from the Bond Street advance civil engineering works, which we won in March 2011.
鈥淏eing awarded the last of the main construction contracts for the new central section stations is testament to our performance on Crossrail overall, and to the great people we have in place delivering these contracts across the capital.鈥
Work is set to begin in February 2013 and is scheduled to conclude in February 2017 ahead of Crossrail鈥檚 opening in 2018.
Andrew Wyllie, chief executive of Costain said: 鈥淭his contract awarded to Costain by Crossrail is, we believe, further demonstration of the successful implementation of our 鈥楥hoosing Costain鈥 strategy, in which we focus on building long term relationships with and winning repeat works from blue chip customers who are spending billions on meeting vital infrastructure needs.
鈥淭his contract further contributes to the strength of our order book, which comprises approximately 90% repeat business.鈥
